The basics
What is ReturnDue?
An iPhone app for the things you might send back. Add a purchase, and ReturnDue works out the return window, reminds you before the deadline, shows you the store’s return steps, and helps you follow the refund until it’s back.
Does ReturnDue send the item back for me?
No. ReturnDue helps you understand the store’s return process and remember the next step. You still pack the item and drop it off, ship it, or take it back to the store, and the store decides whether it accepts the return.
Which stores work with ReturnDue?
ReturnDue includes verified return rules for a number of major retailers, and it can look up a store’s official policy when it needs to. Policies can vary by item, membership, and order, so ReturnDue shows where each date came from.
Is ReturnDue available on Android?
ReturnDue is an iPhone app. There isn’t an Android version.
Adding purchases
How do I get a purchase into ReturnDue?
Scan a paper receipt, add a screenshot or PDF, share an order confirmation from another app, or enter the details yourself. With Pro, you can also forward order and receipt emails to your private ReturnDue address.
How does forwarding work?
Pro gives you a unique, private ReturnDue address, set up with Sign in with Apple. When an order confirmation, a receipt, or the store’s return or refund email arrives, forward it from any mail app.
ReturnDue reads it and adds the purchase, or updates the one it belongs to. If it can’t read an email or confirm a date, it tells you in the app so you can fill in what’s missing.
Does ReturnDue connect to my email inbox?
Not currently. With ReturnDue Pro, you forward the order and return emails you choose to your private ReturnDue address, so you decide what ReturnDue receives. ReturnDue doesn’t need access to your Gmail, Outlook, or other inbox.
Do I need to set up a forwarding rule?
No. Forward the order emails you want tracked, whenever you like. There are no mail rules or filters to set up.
Can different items in the same order have different return dates?
Yes. ReturnDue gives each item its own date when the receipt or the store’s rules support it. On Free, an order counts as one watched purchase however many items it has.
Return dates and Return Checks
How does ReturnDue know when my return is due?
It reads the dates and terms on your receipt or order confirmation and applies the store’s verified return rules. If those aren’t enough, a Return Check can look up the store’s official policy. Dates can vary by item, membership, and order.
What if ReturnDue can’t confirm a return deadline?
It tells you instead of guessing. The item says “We couldn’t confirm this return deadline,” and you can set the window yourself if you know it. Until then, it isn’t counted in your Still returnable total.
When a detail is missing or reliable sources disagree, ReturnDue uses the earlier date and marks it “to be safe.”
What’s a Return Check?
A live lookup of a store’s official return policy. ReturnDue uses one only when your receipt and its verified store rules can’t answer, for example at a smaller store it doesn’t know yet. It reads the store’s own policy page and gives you a date only if the policy states one. Many purchases don’t need one at all.
Why does Free include 2 Return Checks?
Many purchases can be worked out right on your iPhone, from the receipt and ReturnDue’s verified store rules. A Return Check is different: it searches for and reads a store’s policy online, using ReturnDue’s servers. Free includes 2 for the life of the app (they don’t reset each month), so an unfamiliar store doesn’t leave you stuck. Pro includes unlimited Return Checks, within fair-use limits.
What happens after I’ve used both?
Everything else keeps working: your purchases, the dates ReturnDue already knows, Keep it and Return it, and reminders for your watched purchases. If another store needs a live lookup, the item says so. You can set the date yourself, or use Pro.
Free and Pro
Is ReturnDue free?
Yes. Free isn’t a trial, doesn’t expire, and doesn’t need an account. There’s no limit on how many purchases you keep in your list. Free includes return dates with Why this date, the full Keep it and Return it workflow, Home, Search, and History, reminders and refund follow-up for 3 watched purchases at a time, and 2 Return Checks for the life of the app.
What does “3 purchases at a time” mean?
The limit is on watching, not on keeping: your list can hold as many purchases as you like. On Free, ReturnDue actively watches up to 3 of them at once. A watched purchase gets reminders before its deadline, drop-off reminders, and refund follow-up. An order with several items counts as one.
Everything else you add keeps its dates and return steps on Home; it just doesn’t send reminders. When everything on a watched purchase is kept, refunded, or closed, its spot opens up. Pro watches every purchase.
What does Pro add?
Unlimited watched purchases, unlimited Return Checks (within fair use), a private ReturnDue address for forwarding order and return emails, which ReturnDue reads to add and update your purchases, and backup and sync across your iPhones with Sign in with Apple. Pro is $29.99 a year (that’s $2.50 a month) or $4.99 a month, billed through Apple.
Is there a free trial of Pro?
No. ReturnDue Free isn’t a trial and doesn’t expire, so you can use it for as long as you like before deciding whether Pro is worth it to you.
What happens if I cancel Pro?
You keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve already paid for. After that, nothing is deleted: your purchases stay on your iPhone, ReturnDue goes back to watching 3 purchases at a time, and emails sent to your forwarding address are no longer read or added. You can subscribe again anytime.
Privacy
Do I need to sign in to use ReturnDue?
No. Free works without creating an account. Pro uses Sign in with Apple so your forwarding address and backup belong to you.
If a Return Check needs ReturnDue’s online service, the app sets up a limited anonymous ID to keep track of your included checks. It doesn’t upload your purchase list.
Why doesn’t ReturnDue need my inbox or bank account?
A return only needs a few facts: what you bought, where, when, and for how much, plus the store’s policy. Those come from the receipt or email you choose to share. Refunds are tracked from the store’s refund email or return receipt and confirmed by you, so ReturnDue doesn’t need access to your inbox or your bank.
Do I have to link my bank or credit card?
No. ReturnDue doesn’t ask for bank or card access. When a refund is expected, it asks you to confirm it arrived.
What does ReturnDue keep?
Receipts and emails you add are kept while they’re useful for a return or refund, plus 30 days, then deleted. ReturnDue keeps only the details: the store, items, prices, dates, and what happened. You can delete everything from Settings at any time.
Returns and refunds
Does ReturnDue guarantee a refund?
No. The store decides whether it accepts a return and when it refunds you. ReturnDue helps you keep track, and keeps “return started,” “refund issued,” and “refund received” separate so you can see where things stand.
Does ReturnDue know automatically when my refund arrives?
Not on its own. ReturnDue doesn’t see your bank or card account, so it asks you once the refund is expected, and you confirm with one tap. With Pro, forwarding your card’s refund notification can confirm it too. Nothing is marked as received just because time has passed.
